2021 / Pinot Noir

2021 Dierberg Pinot Noir

The grapes for this wine come exclusively from the Dierberg Drum Canyon Vineyard located near the north eastern edge of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. From this hillside vineyard we’ve observed that both the cluster and berry size are quite small due to the challenging growing environment and low fertility soils. The result is a wine of unique character with a true sense of place, the Sta. Rita Hills.

Tasting notes

Pale ruby with fuchsia highlights and moderate tearing on the glass. The nose is deep and brooding with aromas of plum skin, morel mushroom, black tea, and dried bergamot. The palate is lovely with tart red cherry, black raspberry, and refreshing acidity followed by dried apricot and rose petal. The rich, long, and savory finish features silky tannins alongside notes of wet earth, leather, and barrel spice.

Food pairings

The 2021 Dierberg Pinot Noir is a great wine to pair with seared duck breast with dried cherries or cedar-plank grilled salmon with figs and toasted hazelnuts.
