2021 Rodgers Creek Chardonnay

The Rodgers Creek Vineyard has provided Landmark with high quality fruit for well over a decade. This ridge-top vineyard exposes the vines to the full force of the afternoon wind coming off the Pacific Ocean through the “gap” and the low fertility soils limit both the size of the canopy and clusters which consistently produces small, frequently seedless intensely flavored berries. The relentless pressure of the mid-day winds in union with the mature vines produce very well-balanced wines, with elegance and sense of place, expressing the “Petaluma Gap” viticultural area.

Tasting notes

Pale golden in color with a richly aromatic nose, showing notes of lemon peel, ripe pear, salinity, and honey. The palate is medium-bodied and creamy with ripe pear, golden apple, and ripe citrus. The long and layered finish is balanced by savory notes of beeswax, vanilla, toasted hazelnut, and subtle herbal complexities.

Food pairings

The 2021 Rodgers Creek Chardonnay would pair beautifully with richly flavored dishes, such as grilled lobster in a tomato compound butter alongside bright and creamy lemon risotto.
