2019 / Chardonnay
The Hilliard Bruce Vineyard continues to be Landmark’s southernmost source for premium Chardonnay. Situated near the north-western edge of Santa Barbara County’s prestigious Sta. Rita Hills appellation, the blocks that we source from provide Winemaker, Greg Stach with the small clustered Dijon clones 76 and 96 to craft this Chardonnay. This vineyard’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides a definite cool climate character to this wine.

Medium lemon color, aromatic with lemon, golden delicious apple, toasted oak, lemongrass, pineapple, and chamomile. The palate is dry and crisp with ripe lemon, yellow apple, and a hint of mandarin orange fruit on the entry. Toasted oak, barrel spice, and brioche appear on the midpalate with yellow and green apple, lemongrass mixed with lingering oak and subtle salinity on the finish.
Fresh and balanced on the palate, the 2019 Hilliard Bruce Chardonnay is a great pairing with seared scallops in a lemon butter sauce.
